Over the last several years, Remodeling Magazine has compiled and published an annual report comprised of several different types of projects in cities all over the country. Portland, OR happens to be one of those cities. Among the items in the report are over 30 projects with basic descriptions, an average price and the average value of the improvement if you were to complete it and then immediately sell your home. Keep in mind, these are generic descriptions and prices. Your cost will vary.
When a client comes to us and has no idea about how to establish a project budget, we can use the report as a tool to help us get there. Even if you were to look at the average project price and say “Wow, I had no idea and don’t want to spend that much!” we can help you either design a project more in-line with your budget or give you some alternative options. Each project is unique and believe it or not, you have control regarding what your investment is going to be. For example, you can choose a $200.00 or a $900.00 kitchen faucet. You can also choose to add a bathroom in that basement or attic along with that bedroom, office or home theater. Are you curious about what that new kitchen or bathroom may cost? If so, check out the Remodeling Magazine 2011-2012 report.
